Exploring Nepal’s Priceless Heritage: Entrance Fees

Nepal’s UNESCO-listed World Heritage sites reflect the country’s long history and rich cultural traditions. The ancient monuments, temples, and stupas found across Nepal offer visitors a chance to see the country’s history and spiritual traditions up close.

When visiting Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Patan, travelers can explore historic Durbar Squares, temples, and stupas. Entry fees are required at these sites, helping support their preservation and allowing visitors to explore the historic areas.

For foreign visitors, the entrance fee is NPR 1000.00 for Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square, while Bhaktapur Durbar Square charges USD 15.00. Travelers from SAARC countries pay reduced fees, with NPR 150.00 for Kathmandu, NPR 250.00 for Patan, and NPR 500.00 for Bhaktapur.

For Pashupatinath, the entrance fee is NPR 1000.00 for Nepali visitors and NPR 400.00 for SAARC nationals. At Boudhanath, the fees are NPR 1000.00 and NPR 100.00 respectively.

Swayambhunath Stupa and Patan Golden Temple are also popular cultural and religious sites in the Kathmandu Valley. The entrance fees for Swayambhunath are NPR 200.00 for foreign visitors and NPR 50.00 for SAARC visitors. At Patan Golden Temple, the fees are NPR 50.00 and NPR 20.00 respectively.

Outside the valley, Changunarayan Temple offers visitors a chance to see its historic architecture in a quieter setting surrounded by lush landscapes. The entrance fee is NPR 300.00 for foreign visitors and NPR 100.00 for SAARC visitors.

In the Terai region, Chitwan National Park and Lumbini are two important places to visit. Chitwan National Park charges NPR 1500.00 + 13% VAT for foreigners and NPR 750.00 + 13% VAT for SAARC nationals. The entrance fees for Lumbini are NPR 200.00 for foreign visitors and NPR 100.00 for SAARC visitors.

In Pokhara, the International Mountain Museum and the panoramic views of Nagarkot offer visitors more opportunities to explore Nepal’s natural and cultural attractions. The entrance fees are NPR 400.00 and NPR 300.00 for foreign visitors, while SAARC visitors pay NPR 200.00 and NPR 150.00 respectively.
