The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek lies in the North of Pokhara, the city of Lakes. The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is one of the most popular treks to the Annapurna.
This comparatively easy trekking route is filled with spectacular view of the Annapurna massif, lush green forests and the gorgeous ethnic Gurung villages. Mt. Machhapuchhre towers above the ethnic village and terrace farmland adding more charm to the beautiful region.
Trekking to Poon Hill gives a chance to witness the spectacular view of the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Nilgiri and Machhapuchhre from a relatively low altitude. This trekking can be done throughout the year but is not recommended from July to August and you can gain much better experience in February to June and September to November. Dense rhododendron forests reside along the trekking trail. Blend in with the locals and enjoy the panoramic view of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Machhapuchre, Nilgiri and Tukuche along the path. The trek is easy and doesn’t involve high climbing making it one of the popular short treks in Nepal. This expedition is designed for people who have limited time to travel and is suitable for all age groups.
Drive to Pokhara by tourist bus from Kathmandu – (approximately 7/8 hrs). Our tourist bus will leave for Pokhara(750m) at 7:00 am sharp this morning. If the weather turns out to be fine, you will greeted with incredible views of mountains, hills, greeneries and numerous riverways on the way. It takes about 7 to 8 hrs to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu via a tourist bus. The bus will drop you off in a 3 star hotel on BB twin sharing basis in Pokhara, and you can take a shower or rest for an hour. You will be visiting the tourist area around the city along with lakeside area (around Fewa lake) from where you can get to see the astounding view of Mt. Machapuchare (6,993 m).
Drive to Nayapul (approximately 1.5 hrs), trek to Hile- Ulleri (1,960m)- (approximate walking time: 5/6 hrs). Set off for breakfast at 7:00 am and by 7:30 am, get ready with the luggage and belongings only needed for the trek. You can leave your other stuffs which won’t be needed for the trek in the hotel. You will be transported to Nayapul (1,050 m) via car, and would take about 1 and ½ hours to get there. From that point, we shall start our trek to Ulleri (1,960 m), which would take about 5 to 6 hours, where you will reside for the overnight in an eco lodge.
Trek to Ghorepani (2,860m ) - walking approx.4/5 hrs. After being greeted with the fresh morning of Uleri, you’re breakfast shall be ready for at 8:00 am. At around 9:00 am, we ascend the pathway to Ghorepani (2,860m), which would take around 4 to 5 hrs, depending on your speed. You will find your tiredness and pain all washed up by the breathtaking landscape of Ghorepani. And you might think, “Yeah, it was worth it!”. Here, you can get to experience the authentic Gurung/ Magar lifestyle with traditional houses and farms. Here too, you will reside for the overnight in an eco lodge .
Early morning hike to Poonhill (3,200 m) and trek to Tadapani (2,630m)- (approximate walking time: 5/6 hrs). Today, you will need to wake up at around 4:30 am for a walk to Poonhill (3200m), which would take around 40 minutes. Probably the best place to witness the stunning view of sunrise, weather permitting, amidst the mountain ranges, Poonhill will definitely make a special place in your travel diary, and in your heart. After that, we head back to the hotel for breakfast, and the trek then continues towards Tadapani (2630m), after a 6 to 7 hours of gentle walking.
Trek to Sinuwa(2,360m) - (approximate walking time: 7/8 hrs). The plan for the morning includes a short walk for the spectacular scenery of the Annapurna range and Machapuchare, along with the sunup. After submerging into the breathtaking morning view of the mountain trail, your breakfast would be served at 7:00 am, and soon after that, we continue our trek to Sinuwa (2360 m), which takes 7 to 8 hours by walk. Here too, an eco lodge would be made available for for overnight stay.
Trek to Deurali(3,230m) - (approximate walking time: 6/7 hrs). Soon after your breakfast at 7:30 am, we progress our trek to Deurali (3230m). Walking beside the narrow valley, surrounded by splendid landscapes and hills, Deurali trek would ease your journey to the top. It takes about 6 to 7 hours of gentle walking, to reach here. An eco lodge stay would be arrange for your overnight stay.
Trek from Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC) (3,700 m) to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m) - (approximate walking time: 4/5 hrs). The highlight of our journey, Annapurna Base Camp trek is initiated today. Although the previous day’s trail seemed to have narrow valleys, the route to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m), stretches the views and the mountain ranges become more vivid. After 4 to 5 hours of trek, ABC gives the most stunning fisheye view of the Annapurna range, Machapuchare, and other mountains to which you can dwell yourself. You will be accommodated in an eco lodge here.
Return to Himalayan- Bamboo(2,310m)- (approximate walking time: 7/8 hrs). We wake up early in the morning to sight the sunrise along with the mountain range. We could also ascend further upwards to get the glimpses of the glassier and sunrise. After returning back to the lodge, you shall be served with breakfast. The day continue with our trek downhill to Bamboo (2,310m), which may take about 7 to 8 hours. You will be accommodated in an eco lodge here.
Trek to Jhinu Danda(1,780m) natural hot spring- (approximate walking time: 4/5 hrs). We head towards natural hot springs of Jhinu Danda (1,780m) after 4 to 5 hours of walk. After dropping off your belongings at the lodge, you can walk to down to the hot spring for bath and steam. It is believed that the natural hot spring baths have the healing power over your body soreness and discomfort. Here too, you will be accommodated in an eco lodge.
Trek to Nayapul (1,070m) - (approximate walking time: 4/5 hrs), drive to Pokhara by car- (approximately 1.5 hrs). With early breakfast, we descend our trek back to Nayapul, which may take 4 to 5 hours. You will then be picked up by a car and transported to Pokhara (1.5 hrs, 45kms). You can take a walk around the lakeside and tourist area in the evening to ease out the tiredness. Your stay will be arranged in the same hotel, where you had stayed.
Drive to Kathmandu - (approximately 7/8 hrs). After early breakfast, our tourist bus will set off for Kathmandu. Your overnight stay in Kathmandu will be arranged in a 3 star hotel on BB basis.
