The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek lies in the North of Pokhara, the city of Lakes. The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is one of the most popular treks to the Annapurna.
This comparatively easy trekking route is filled with spectacular view of the Annapurna massif, lush green forests and the gorgeous ethnic Gurung villages. Mt. Machhapuchhre towers above the ethnic village and terrace farmland adding more charm to the beautiful region.
Trekking to Poon Hill gives a chance to witness the spectacular view of the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Nilgiri and Machhapuchhre from a relatively low altitude. This trekking can be done throughout the year but is not recommended from July to August and you can gain much better experience in February to June and September to November. Dense rhododendron forests reside along the trekking trail. Blend in with the locals and enjoy the panoramic view of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Machhapuchre, Nilgiri and Tukuche along the path. The trek is easy and doesn’t involve high climbing making it one of the popular short treks in Nepal. This expedition is designed for people who have limited time to travel and is suitable for all age groups.
Today, we will embark on a scenic drive to Pokhara (830m), departing from Kathmandu at 7:00 am via a tourist bus. The journey is expected to take 7 to 8 hours and will be an opportunity to take in the stunning views of the mountains, hills, verdant landscapes, and flowing rivers along the way. Upon arrival in Pokhara, you will be checked-in at a 3-star hotel on a bed and breakfast basis, allowing you time to freshen up and relax. In the afternoon, we will explore the city's tourist areas and the picturesque lakeside region around Fewa Lake, offering a breathtaking view of the majestic Machapuchare Mountain (6,993m).
Today we will embark on the beginning of our trekking journey. We will start with a filling breakfast at 7:00 am, and then pack only the essentials for the trek. We will leave the rest of our belongings at the hotel and head to Nayapul (1,050 m) by car, which will take approximately 1 and a half hours. Upon arrival at Nayapul, we will commence our 5 to 6-hour trek to Ulleri (1,960 m) and spend the night in an eco-lodge.
After a rejuvenating night at Ulleri, we will have breakfast at 8:00 am. Then, we will embark on a 4–5 hour trek to Ghorepani (2,860m). Our journey will take us through breathtaking landscapes, and we will have the chance to experience the authentic Magar lifestyle with traditional houses and farms. At Ghorepani, we will stay overnight in an eco lodge and be greeted by the stunning views of Annapurna South, Hiun Chuli, and Machhapuchchhre (Fishtail).
Rise early and embark on a 40-minute hike to Poonhill (3,200 m), where, weather permitting, you will be treated to a stunning sunrise amidst the towering mountain ranges. En route, take in the diverse species of Rhododendron and be amazed by the sight of ranges such as the Gurju Himal, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, Nilgiri, Barha Sikhar, Annapurna South, Hiun Chuli, Fishtail, Annapurna II, Annapuran IV, Lamjung Himal, Manasolu and many more. Make a lasting impression in your travel diary with the breathtaking view from Poonhill. After relishing the moment, return to the hotel for breakfast and then proceed on a leisurely 6 to 7 hour walk to Tadapani (2,630 m), where you will spend the night.
Tadapani 2630m embark on a journey to Sinuwa (2,360m) with an estimated walking time of 7 to 8 hours. Start the day with a short walk to marvel at the stunning view of the Annapurna range and Machapuchare while admiring the sunrise. After taking in the breathtaking morning scenery, enjoy a delicious breakfast at 7:00 am before continuing your trek to Sinuwa. The trail, which takes 7 to 8 hours to complete, takes you through beautiful landscapes and offers an opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the region. Upon arrival, you will be accommodated in an eco-lodge for the night. Note that the trek involves some up and down walking from Tadapani
Begin the day with a hearty breakfast at 7:30 am, then set off on a gentle trek to Deurali (3,230m), a journey of approximately 6 to 7 hours. As you walk through the narrow valley, surrounded by stunning landscapes and hills, you may have the chance to spot a barking deer. The trek will be a relaxing experience, leading you to Deurali where you will spend the night at an eco lodge.
Today, embark on the highlight of the journey, the trek to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m) via Machhapuchchhre Base Camp (3,700 m), taking 4 to 5 hours to reach. The trail offers a breathtaking view of the Annapurna range, including Machhapuchchhre (6,993 m), Gandharva Chuli (6,248 m), Tharpu Chuli (5,695 m), Singu Chuli (6,501 m), Glacier Dome (7,069 m), Rocnoir (7,485 m), Annapurna I (8,091 m), Bharha Chuli (7,646 m), Annapurna South (7,219 m), Hiun Chuli (6,434 m) and other prominent mountains. Upon arrival, spend the night at an eco lodge at Annapurna Base Camp and be enveloped by the divine beauty of the surrounding mountain range.
Begin the day by witnessing the stunning sunrise and mountain ranges in the early morning. Optionally, ascend further for a glimpse of the glacier and sunrise. After relishing a delicious breakfast, embark on a downhill trek to Bamboo (2,310m), taking approximately 7 to 8 hours. Conclude the day by staying overnight in an eco lodge at Bamboo.
Embark on a 4 to 5 hour trek to Jhinu Danda (1,780m), where you can indulge in the natural hot springs known for their therapeutic properties. After arriving at the lodge, freshen up and head down to the hot springs to bathe and soothe any muscle soreness. Rejuvenated, spend the night in the comfort of an eco lodge.
After reaching Jhinu Danda at an altitude of 1780 meters, we will begin our journey back to Matkyu at an altitude of 1500meters, which will take about 1.5 hours. Then we will board a vehicle for a road trip to Pokhara which is 830 meters away and it will take us 3–4 hours. With this, our adventurous climbing experience will end well.
Today we begin our scenic journey from Pokhara to Kathmandu by vehicle. The trip will take approximately 7–8 hours, will provide panoramic views of the famous Madi River, Marshyangdi and Trishuli Rivers, and other landmarks. We'll have a short lunch break along the way, so we have a chance to recharge before continuing our journey.
