This trekking trail leads you through lush rhododendron forest, scared lakes and over 70 glaciers of varying sizes with tall peaks surrounding you.
The three major areas of this trekking route are Langtang, Gosaikunda and Surya Peak and Helambu. Gosaikunda is a holy lake that is worshipped by the Hindus and Buddhists of Nepal and Surya Peak is situated in the north of the lake. The peak is easy to climb, takes around 4 hours to reach the top of it and doesn’t involve any technical difficulties.
You can see a magnificent view of the Gosaikunda from the summit of the peak and breathtaking views of the majestic snowcapped beauties. You will get a panoramic view of Mt. Langtang, Ganesh Himal and the Annapurna massif easily from the Gosaikunda. The trail to Surya Peak isn’t definite and hence you can lose the direction with a very few people walking past the route. You will be passing through the villages where the Sherpas and Tamangs who have different culture and you can get a chance to learn in depth about them.
All you need is to be fit and healthy and the willingness and capability of walking for around 7 to 9 hours every day.
Today, after a nourishing breakfast in Kathmandu, we will embark on a scenic drive of 7 to 8 hours to Trishuli (540m) and then onwards to Syaphrubesi (1503m). Along the way, we will stop for lunch before reaching Betrawati, from where we will have the choice of taking the riverbank route along the Bhotekoshi or the road from Dhunche to reach Syaphrubesi. Syaphrubesi is located 18 km away from the Tibetan border and we will spend the night near the river in Syaphrubesi, surrounded by the serene beauty of the region. This drive promises to be a memorable start to our next leg of the adventure.
Our journey continues as we depart from Syaphrubesi and begin a 5 to 6-hour trek to the charming village of Thulo Syaphru. After a hearty breakfast, we will follow the tranquil Bhotekoshi River and then the Langtang River, immersing ourselves in the breathtaking natural beauty of the region. As we make our way towards Thulo Syaphru, we will leave the river and begin an ascent through verdant forests of rhododendron and pine, affording us magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. Thulo Syaphru is a Sherpa village that offers excellent facilities for foreign visitors, including comfortable accommodation. Here, we will experience the unique blend of Tamang and Sherpa cultures, gaining insights into the traditions and way of life of the local people. As the day draws to a close, we will settle into our comfortable lodgings in Thulo Syaphru, reflecting on the awe-inspiring scenery and cultural encounters that have made this journey so remarkable. With a mix of anticipation and nostalgia, we will look forward to the final stages of our adventure, cherishing the memories that we have made along the way.
Our adventure continues as we depart from Thulo Syaphru and embark on a 5 to 6-hour trek to the picturesque village of Laurebina, situated at an altitude of 3910m. After a nourishing breakfast, we will traverse the village path, coming across charming chortens and hearing the distinct barking of deer, all while immersing ourselves in the local way of life. As we make our way through the forested areas towards Cholangpati, we will enjoy a refreshing stop for lunch. This area presents a rare opportunity to catch a glimpse of the elusive Red Panda, adding to the excitement of our journey. After lunch, we will continue our ascent towards Laurebina, an uphill trek of approximately 1.5 hours. Along the way, we will be treated to awe-inspiring views of the surrounding mountains, with glimpses of Tibet visible at certain times of the day. As we reach Laurebina, we will settle into our comfortable lodgings, relishing the peace and serenity of this elevated location. With memories of the day's stunning scenery and unique encounters fresh in our minds, we will look forward to the final stages of our journey with a sense of wonder and excitement..
After a satisfying breakfast, we will embark on a 3 to 4 hour trek from Laurebina to Gosainkunda (4380m). Our first stop will be at Laurebina top, where we will be treated to breathtaking scenic views. From there, we will continue our journey towards Gosainkunda, where we will be amazed by the beauty of Sarswoti Lake, Bhairab Lake, and the legendary Gosainkunda Lake. After arriving at Gosainkunda, we will enjoy a scrumptious lunch before exploring the many Hindu, Baudha, and Bon temples and lakes in the area. This is a place of great religious significance, and people of all faiths come together in harmony to pay their respects. We will spend the night in Gosainkunda, taking in the peaceful atmosphere and admiring the natural beauty surrounding us.
On this day, we will be embarking on an exciting 8 to 9-hour hike from Gosainkunda to Surya Peak (5145m). After a hearty breakfast, we will set off with our energy bars, water, and proper gear, making sure to bring along a pack lunch as well. The upward climb to the peak will take us around 3 to 4 hours through a barren and rocky terrain, with spectacular views of the surrounding lakes and mountains. At the top, we will be rewarded with breathtaking views of numerous lakes, including Surya Lake, Aama Lake, Ganesh Lake, Dudha Lake, Chandra Lake, Gosainkunda Lake, Bhairab Lake, Saraswoti Lake, Ragat Lake, and many more. The beauty of the surrounding area is truly mesmerizing. After taking in the stunning scenery, we will make our way back down to Gosainkunda, which will take around 4 to 5 hours. We will then spend the night at Gosainkunda.
Early in the morning, we will set out from Gosainkunda towards Dhunche, which is located at an elevation of 1960m. The journey is expected to take around 7 to 8 hours. After having a hearty breakfast, we will make our way to Chandanbari, where we will indulge in a delicious lunch. While at Chandanbari, we will visit a monastery and a Yak cheese factory. Following this, we will resume our trek to Dhunche, which will take approximately 3 to 4 hours. Dhunche is a thriving town that serves as the headquarters of Rasuwa District. The town boasts of exceptional facilities for accommodations, food, and communication, making it an ideal resting point for travelers. Upon arrival at Dhunche, we will settle in for the night, re-energizing ourselves for the upcoming adventures..
After spending the night in Dhunche, we will begin our return journey to Kathmandu. We will set out after a sumptuous breakfast, and the drive is expected to last for 7 to 8 hours. Along the way, we will encounter multiple checkpoints due to the close proximity of the Chinese border. We will make a stop for lunch at a suitable location, continuing our drive to Kathmandu. As we arrive in Kathmandu, we will take a moment to freshen up and rejuvenate ourselves after the long journey. In the evening, we will gather for a farewell dinner accompanied by a cultural program. It will be a time to celebrate the end of an unforgettable journey, share experiences, and make memories.
