Scenic Walk Along the Dudh Koshi to Namche Bazaar

The walk from Lukla to Namche follows the Dudh Koshi River (90 km) at 2,860 m to 3,440 m, gaining about 580 m in altitude. You’ll cross several suspension bridges, including Hillary and Chheplung. The trail passes through Phakding (2,610 m), Monjo (2,835 m), and enters Sagarmatha National Park. You’ll capture views of Thamserku (6,623 m) and Kusum Kanguru (6,367 m), which appears along the route. 

Crossing Rhododendron Forests to Dengboche

The trail to Dengboche from Namche passes through rhododendron forests near Tengboche and Pangboche. During spring, the hills are covered with red Rhododendron arboreum, pink Rhododendron campanulatum, and white Rhododendron lepidotum. These forests are also home to musk deer, Himalayan monals, and blood pheasants. As the trail climbs higher, the rhododendron forest thins out and alpine shrubs open up with Mount Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Everest views.

Everest Base Camp from Lobuche

The next step from Dengboche leads to Lobuche. From Lobuche at 4,910 m, the Everest Base Camp hike (5,364 m) is about 8 km one way, taking 7-8 hrs round trip via Gorak Shep (5,164 m). The path follows the Khumbu Glacier, with panoramas of Pumori (7,161 m), Nuptse (7,861 m), and Lingtren (6,749 m). This section of the Everest region trek is known for its rocky moraine, glacial ridges, and prayer flag-marked routes leading to the base of world’s tallest mountain.

Sunrise Hike to Kala Patthar and Descent to Pheriche

The sunrise hike to Kala Patthar starts early from Gorakshep and reaches the Kala Patthar viewpoint at 5,545 m in about 2-3 hrs. From top, you can witness beautiful views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Pumori sparkling in the early morning light.
