Day 1 | Drive from Kathmandu (1400m / 4,393ft) to Syabrubesi (1,503m / 4,655ft)

After breakfast, we will hop on a vehicle to Syabrubesi. The vehicle will drive on the Prithvi Highway, passing through picturesque countryside towards the north. We will pass rivers, villages, terrace farms, hills, and forests. The winding road of the Prithvi Highway also follows the Trishuli River, and we can catch a glimpse of the snow-capped vistas of Ganesh Himal. Similarly, as we get close to Syabrubesi, we will pass the bustling Trishuli Bazaar and Dhunche town. Depending on the road conditions, it will take 7 to 9 hours to reach Syabrubesi village.

Day 2 | Trek From Syabrubesi (1,503m / 4,655ft) to Lama Hotel (2,470m / 8,103ft)

We will have a hearty breakfast at Syabrubesi before we start our trek journey. The trail follows the Bhote Koshi River and Langtang Rivers. We will enter dense subtropical forests of rhododendrons, bamboo, oaks, firs, and britches. The trail also passes by several Tamang villages and terrace farms. En route, we will pass the Guru Rinpoche Gompa. As we continue moving forward, the subtropical forest gradually changes into forests of conifers. We must also trek on stone-paved staircases to gradually climb to the Lama Hotel.

Day 3 | Trek from Lama Hotel (2,470m / 8,103ft) to Langtang village (3,430m / 11,255ft)

After breakfast, we will begin our trek on the dense forest trail. The trail passes through thick forests of rhododendrons, oaks, birches, and firs alongside the Langtang Khola. Similarly, we will trek on several steep pathways while the stunning Mount Langtang accompanies us. As we keep moving forward, we will emerge from the narrow river valley. It gradually stretches out at Ghoda Tabela (3030 m), an army check post where trekkers must register their papers to pass further. We will register our papers and start trekking towards Chyamki village. From here onwards, we will pass by water mills, chortens, mani walls, colorful prayer flags, and prayer wheels. We will follow the trail until we reach Langtang Village. It is a large settlement where the majority of the residents belong to the Tamang community. The village is also our overnight stop.

Day 4 | Trek from Langtang village (3,430m / 11,255ft) to Kyanjin Gompa (3,865m / 12,675ft)

Our trek on this day is relatively short, easy, and exciting. The trail involves a few steep ascension sections and goes through dense subtropical verdants. En route, we will pass by a cheese factory famous for its yak cheese. The trail takes us through several small plateaus, green pastures, and alpine meadows. Similarly, we will pass by chortens, mani walls, and prayer flags along the way. After trekking for a while, we will come across sacred mounds of rocks. There are inscriptions carved on it, and prayer wheels surround them. It is the entrance of Kyanjin Gompa. The village offers gorgeous views of the snow-capped Himalayas. We will rest our tired feet at a lodge here.

Day 5 | Exploration Day at Kyanjin Gompa

Today is our exploration day, so we will explore Langtang Valley. This serene and beautiful valley offers marvelous views of the Himalayan ranges and glaciers. We will visit the sacred Kyanjin Gompa and gain insights into its history and cultural significance. Similarly, we will witness monks performing their routine prayers, chantings, and rituals.

A cheese factory lies a short distance from the valley. We can take a short tour of the factory and taste the local yak cheese. We can take a short hike to Langshisha Khark, Tserko Ri (5450 m), or Kyanjin Ri (4773 m) for a more adventurous option. These viewpoints offer breathtaking and enchanting views of the mountain panoramas and surrounding landscapes. Most trekkers take short excursions to Kyanjin Ri, where you can witness magnificent views of the Langtang range. After our whole-day excursion, we will return to Kyanjin Gompa.

Day 6 | Trek from Kyanjin Gompa (3,865m / 12,675ft) to Lama Hotel (2,470m / 8,103ft)

We will have breakfast at Kyanjin Gompa while enjoying the beautiful mountain views. Then, we will retrace our steps to Langtang Village, passing by Ghoda Tabela. We will register our exit at the army checkpoint and continue descending through dense subtropical forests. After trekking for a while, we will reach the Lama Hotel and stay there overnight.

Day 7 | Trek from Lama Hotel (2,470m / 8,103ft) to Syabrubesi (1,420m / 4,655ft)

Today is our final trekking day. After breakfast, we will continue descending along the Langtang River towards the beautiful river valley. On this day, we will mostly descend through thick forests of birches and bamboo. Similarly, we will cross the Langtang and Bhote Koshi Rivers on wooden suspension bridges along the way. Finally, we will reach Syabrubesi, where we will stay overnight.

Day 8 | Drive from Syabrubesi (1,420m / 4,655ft) to Kathmandu (1400m / 4,393ft)

On this final day of our trek package, we will begin early. We will have breakfast in Syabrubesi before our drive back to Kathmandu. The vehicle will follow the same route we took before, so you can again enjoy the captivating views of the Trishuli River valley, villages, terraced fields, hills, and forests. You may also catch a final glimpse of the Himalayan ranges. Our trek will end after we drop you off at your hotel in Kathmandu.

Snow covers the trails of higher regions. By mid-spring, the days are warm and sunny. The temperature also gradually warms up, and the flora and fauna become active. As a result, the rhododendron groves that adorn the Langtang region trails are in full bloom. It colors the entire landscape in red, pink, and white shades. You may even catch sight of rare wildlife during the trek. During spring, the rainfall is minimal, and the visibility is excellent. It is the best time to witness the beauty of the Langtang region and its stunning mountain panoramas.

Summer (June - August)

With the beginning of summer, the monsoon also enters Nepal. There is heavy rainfall in the lower and hilly regions of the country. The trails become wet, muddy, and slippery. However, Langtang Valley is one of the few treks that are doable during the summer. The valley lies in the rainshadow area, which receives very little rainfall. So, the trekking trails are relatively dryer. The temperature at this time of the year is hot and humid. Summer is the best time to witness the vibrant and lush vegetation of the Langtang region. Difficulty Level of Langtang Valley Trek

Langtang Valley Trek is an adventurous journey that requires no prior experience. Its moderately challenging trekking trail includes numerous uphill and downhill climbing sections on rough and rugged terrains. There are also steep and narrow pathways that require a good fitness level to overcome them. Each day, trekkers must trek for 4 to 6 hours on average, depending on the destination.
