Manaslu Circuit Trek Map

Ever wondered what a 12-day Manaslu Circuit Trek route looks like? The 12-day Manaslu Circuit Trek is a journey around one of the most popular Himalayan regions of Nepal. The route takes you from Kathmandu city to mountain villages like Arughat, Machha Khola, Jagat, Deng, and Namrung before entering the highlands of Lho, Syala, and Samagaun.

As the trek continues, you’ll cross notable waypoints like Samdo, Larkya Bazaar, and Dharamsala, leading up to the Larkya La Pass (5,106 m). After descending, you’ll pass through Bhimthang, Yak Kharka, Gho, and Tilije before ending the journey at Besishahar and returning to Kathmandu.

How the Map Helps You Plan Your Manaslu Adventure

A 12 Days Manaslu Circuit Trek Map is more than just a piece of paper. It’s your most reliable travel companion in the remote Himalayas. The map helps you visualize the entire 12-day route, from Kathmandu to Arughat, Machha Khola, and all the way to Besishahar. It clearly shows that the trek rises from about 869 m at Machha Khola to 5,160 m at Larkya La Pass, helping you plan acclimatization days at Samagaun and, if necessary, at Dharamsala.

The map also highlights side trails and viewpoints that guidebooks might overlook. You can spot an alternative route between Jagat to Deng or scenic detours around Samdo and Tilije. With all this data, you can estimate daily walking times, plan safe overnight stops, and prepare for weather changes. In short, the map helps you stay organized, avoid confusion, and make the most of your Manaslu adventure with confidence.

What the 12 Days Manaslu Circuit Trek Map Reveals

The map reveals the exciting 12-day journey of the Manaslu Circuit Trek. It shows the trail starting from Soti Khola (after driving from Kathmandu) and tracing a loop around Manaslu (8,163 m), the world’s eighth-highest mountain. You can clearly see the progression from lower elevations like Jagat up to one of the highest points like Larkya La Phedi Pass and Dharamsala, before descending again.

The map highlights the nature of the trek, showing both driving routes (represented by cars) connecting to the towns like Besisahar and Arughat, and the foot trails (the green line). It also highlights nearby peaks like Himalchuli (7,893 m) and Ganesh Himal (7,422 m) along the way. The itinerary is easy to follow, with numbered circles showing the endpoint of the day and its elevation.

It gives a clear picture of the physical challenge and geographical changes they will experience over the twelve days.

I’d done a couple of treks in Nepal before, but Manaslu? This one hits differently, it’s wilder, less crowded, and feels like you’re walking through a forgotten world. Every day brought something unexpected swinging bridges, Buddhist monasteries, yak herds, and those towering snowy peaks. The HC Treks team was brilliant, so organized yet super chill. I was solo, but never felt alone. Honestly, it’s a trek that stays with you.

“Manaslu’s Raw Beauty and Deep Connections”

We were a group of four friends from Sydney looking for something different than the usual Everest or Annapurna treks and wow, did Manaslu Tsum Valley blow us away. It was raw, untouched, and deeply spiritual. We trekked through ancient villages, laughed around dinner tables, and bonded with our guide like he was one of us. HC Treks gave us the perfect mix of challenge, care, and connection. We’re already planning another trek with them!

Option Side Trips Around Manaslu on the Map

The Manaslu region offers several exciting alternative side trips for trekkers who want to explore beyond the main 12-day route. One popular option is the Tsum Valley Trek, which starts between Jagat and Deng. This valley is rich in Tibetan culture, ancient monasteries like Mu Gompa, Rachen Gompa, and traditional villages. Another challenging detour is the Rui La Pass, which extends beyond the route between Samdo and Dharamsala.

Other notable side trips include Birendra Lake and the Manaslu Base Camp (MBC) from Samagaun. Birendra Lake is an alpine lake surrounded by Manaslu North, ideal for a short excursion. The MBC trek takes you close to massive ice walls and glaciers of Manaslu, reaching an elevation of over 4,500 m. These alternative routes not only extend your adventure but also help to explore less-traveled areas and witness unique landscapes.

A fantastic and memorable experience that I would like to repeat in the not too distant future. My friend Kulvinder and I had discussed some time ago about doing a trek in Nepal. The lure of majestic mountains, valleys, rivers, lakes, and varied scenery finally drew us, along with another friend, Binesh, to embark on the Annapurna Trek with Tilicho Lake with Himalayan Challenge Treks. From the moment we were collected at the airport by our guide Chatur Man Tarang, to the end of the trek, we were not only provided with useful advice and information, but Chatur also infused the trek with his own special brand of humour. The two porters, 'Ashish' and 'Rajan', quickly became friends and helped fill in the quiet evenings by joining in a few games of Dhumble. The treks were challenging for us, 65+ year olds. Still, Chatur and the porters were always encouraging and provided helpful advice on how to deal with the various challenges of walking up and down safely, dealing with the low oxygen air at altitude, staying safe in rockfall areas, and dealing with the incoming traffic of ponies and local residents carrying bulky goods from one place to another. The locations were absolutely stunning and the local rambling through villages, visiting the Buddhist Stupas and Gumbas and enjoying the hospitality of the tea houses along the trek routes remains truly memorable. I hope to return sometime soon to pick up where we left this trek.

Day walk with Shirish Some time ago my wife and I did a short day walk with Shirish Tuladhar of Himalayan Challenge Treks and enjoyed the day immensely. We were in Katmandu for only about a week and so had no time for a multi-day trek. Shirish was a great guide and very patient (as I was recovering from surgery and moving rather slowly.) This was pre-Covid, while we were living in Malaysia, but while moving back to the US/EU I found Shirish's card and wanted to commend him and HCT. +David+

Fantastic Tailor Made Honeymoon After establishing an excellent connection with Shirish online, we worked to put together a bespoke itinerary which was absolutely perfect for what we wanted on our honeymoon. Shirish and his team (Ram and Raju) delivered a trip which far exceeded our expectations. Their local expertise provided a personal touch to our trip which made it incredibly special and unique. I thoroughly recommend Nepal as it has so much to offer visitors. We experienced white water rafting, trekking in the Annapurna foothills, sunrises over snow topped mountains, paragliding over Pokhara, safari in Chitwan, the history and culture of Kathmandu and much, much more. The Nepalese people are incredibly friendly and welcoming. I put my trust in Shirish and his team and they delivered something professional, personal and so wonderfully memorable that the trip to Nepal will always have a very special place in our hearts.
